You will be granted a temporary resident status if you applied as a visitor, student or a temporary foreign worker and meet the requirements of the legislation to enter and temporarily stay in Canada.
Though you can apply for an extension, your temporary resident status is only valid up to the expiry date posted in your permit and must leave Canada.
